A laborer in the 80s for one of the largest contractors in the Pittsburgh area, Rob had the privilege of working on several major skyscrapers downtown. In 1989 he had the opportunity to transition into the office as an estimator putting to use the experience he gained in the field. Over the next twenty-four years Rob advanced to chief estimator, vice president of operations and corporate vice president. He was a major part of the growth within a company that increased their annual volume from $13M to $85M.
In 2013, with over 30 years of construction and real estate development industries experience, Rob began RJS Construction Consulting, LLC.
At RJS we like to incorporate our experience into an owner's project early in the design process through collaboration with the owner's design professionals. Our goal is to become part of the owner's team and add value to their project in more ways than just providing a bid. Our input can help determine cost effective solutions early in the design process to keep costs in line with the budget.
We provide construction management services, general contracting, and owner's representation. We utilize many contract formats provided by the American Institute of Architects as well as ConsensusDocs. The contracts can vary from lump sum to guaranteed maximum price to cost of the work plus a fee.
